Frequently asked questions

Q: Will it hurt?
A: The consultation appointment will generally include an examination of your teeth and mouth which often includes periodontal charting (measuring your gums). This is described by most people as a little annoying but certainly not painful.
Q: How long will the first appointment take?
A: You should allow yourself about 10 minutes to complete some paperwork ( medical history form etc) and about 60 minutes for the examination. Fortunately our clinic has free dedicated patient parking and there is usually plenty of free parking in the nearby side-streets as well, so parking is not a problem. There is a bus-stop in front of our clinic.
Q: Do you provide treatment under sedation?
A: We have a visiting Dental Sedationist that allows us to provide "twilight sedation" and treat Patients who are anxious or scared and feel that they can not cope with treatment under local anaesthetic alone.
Q: Do you provide Dental Implants?
A: We provide surgical placement of dental implants and associated bone and soft tissue grafting. However, we usually do not restore implants (place a crown / bridge / denture) and refer you back to your Dentist or another restorative Dentist for this.
Q: What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
A: Please bring your referral letter (if you have one) and any relevant radiographs (X-Rays) of your teeth or jaws. Often your Dentist will e-mail or post these to us directly. If you are taking any medications or are being treated for a specific illness or condition, please bring these details with you.
Q: If I see you, does it mean that I do not need to go back to my Dentist?
A: No. We do not provide comprehensive dental care like a Dentist. We encourage all of our patients to see the Dentist of their choice for their routine dental management.
Q: How much will it cost?
A: Wherever possible we try to give our Patients a written quotation of fees at the conclusion of the consultation appointment. Very rarely the unexpected happens or a treatment plan needs to be changed during the course of treatment and this may alter costs. Any variation of the fees quoted will be discussed with you in advance.
Q: What payment methods do you have?
A: We have the HICAPS facility that allows direct claims with most health funds. It also allows us to provide an estimate of your out of pocket expense in some cases. We accept cash, cheque, MasterCard, Visa and most debit cards
